Dichotomy
What if there was a convergence;
Wait, a coming together of the unlikeminded?
I disagree with you, and you, and you
I am at complete political odds with you
Bend the rainbow, there is no spoon
Life is a chaotic blend of blessings and shit piles
We all have that in common
We all have our respective surroundings in common
There are some gaps that need no bridge to fill
We don't have to listen to another defensively, just listen
We don't even have to change our mindset, just listen.
Perspective is the eyeglass by which we view the world. We choose for ourselves which telescope to pick and up look through. People will hand you eyeglasses as if they should be your own. We shape our own perspectives. Create your own perception and, perhaps, be willing to adjust it.
Or... believe in the ability to humanize if nothing else
Reading is good, but listening is better
Hearing
It doesn't mean your opinion must pivot
Maybe it will, maybe it won't
Which is scarier? Defending, or changing, your position?
Starting local, at home, in your community
Allows for participation at a ground-floor level, accessible, solid.
Some call it grass roots, but liberal terms worry conservative minds
I believe in so many things, from the left to the right and straight on till morning
Let's believe in the power of us, community, neighbors, friends, co-workers, the concentric circles of connection. Bigger and bigger: city, county, suburb, enclave, parish, village, township, state, etc.
We are connected and beautifully, chaotically intertwined. Some have less, some more. Some live on the edge, others hide, deep in their world.
Isn't it time we believed in each other? Pick up each other's telescopes for a view from their lens? Or at least believed in the possibilities that connectivity through understanding can bring. Solutions, compromise, settlements, agreements. Peace?
It's silly to think the answer is so simple, except for Occam's Razor; 'the principle of parsimony, tells us that the simplest, most elegant explanation is usually the one closest to the truth.'
Together. That's the hardest and easiest part. We must Come Together.
